Ah, sweet summertime. We’re talking juicy watermelon, flip flop tans and sticky ice cream fingers kind-of feeling, there’s simply nothing like it! The craziest school year on record is finally over, so let’s shift gears to relaxing and enjoying multiple summer events in Franklin Southampton!

Movie Nights at the Park

Are you ready for a movie night in the park? Grab a blanket or chair and come enjoy this free family-friendly event. The schedule and location are the following:

  • Dolittle on July 24th at the Armory Park Complex
  • Monsters Inc. on August 21st at Barratt’s Landing Park
  • The Lion King on September 25th at the Armory Park Complex

Light concessions will be available for purchase. Please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult.

40th Annual Franklin Southampton County Fair

The Franklin Southampton Country Fair is back and better than ever! This 40th edition will feature a wide variety of activities such as a local talent show, Queens Pageant, Scarecrow Making Contest, Petting Zoo, Watermelon Eating Contest, Horticulture and Field Crops displays, Home Arts, Vendors, Live Music from Tracy Byrd, A Thousand Horses, The Desert City Ramblers, Chase Payne, Celest Kellogg and much more! The Fair takes place August 11th through August 14th!

We Be Jammin’

We Be Jammin’ is a summer concert series held each year in Downtown Franklin every other Thursday from 6pm-10pm now through August 19th. Bring a lawn chair or beach towel to enjoy a variety of bands at Barratt’s Landing, you’ll be sure to dance the night away!

Franklin’s Market on Main

Franklin’s Market on Main is the perfect place to stock up on all of your beloved summer staples! Enjoy fresh locally grown fruits and vegetables, baked goods, locally grown and raised produce, pork, chicken, beef and seafood. The Market is open Wednesdays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00am to 12:00pm. You might even catch some live music!

Franklin Cruise-In

Come to Historic Downtown Franklin for a weekly Wednesday classic car show from 4:30pm-7:30pm, now through October 13th! Car enthusiasts can meet and admire various vehicles, all in a family-friendly environment! The event is open to all makes, models and years of cars, trucks and bikes. Each season concludes with a Franklin Cruise-In Grand Finale which will take place Saturday, October 16th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Courtland Farmer’s Market

The Courtland Farmer’s Market is a produce auction ideal for wholesale buyers, but anyone is welcome to attend! If you are an avid canner or like to freeze fresh, local produce, this is the event for you. The Courtland Farmer’s Market sells small lots as well, so come and bid before the fruits, vegetables, plants, and flowers sell out! The Courtland Farmer’s Market opens every Thursday at 6:30pm now through the middle of October!

Heritage Day

Join the fun for a day that focuses on how things used to be at the Southampton Agriculture & Forestry Museum Heritage Day! Come explore a one-room school house, an old general store, restored churches, houses and more. Try homeade butter, cracklings, and cornbread. Learn about blacksmithing, marvel at antique cars and tractors and see how farming used to be done. It’s a great day to step back in time!
